ABOUT
Coaching With Experience, Skills and Resources
Dementia is challenging with so many decisions to make. Decisions about things you previously never even thought of or knew about. I have been making those decisions for my Mom Sandy since 2018. I cannot say I have always made the perfect decision, but I made the best one I could at the time.
Over the years, I have gained a lot of personal knowledge and uncovered a variety of resources. I am currently an advocate with the Alzheimer's Association and a member of the Hillsborough County Dementia Care and Cure Initiative Task Force.
In late 2021, I needed to make life altering decisions and looked for someone in the Tampa, FL area who was certified by global dementia care specialist Teepa Snow in her Positive Approach to Care. I could not find anyone local. In Spring 2022, my decisions found my Mom and myself in a much better condition, and I invested the time to become a Positive Approach to Care Independent Certified Coach.
This certification process was weeks of virtual training, reading and live group feedback and skill building, a trip to North Carolina with Teepa Snow and other dementia care specialists and continued virtual mentoring and skill building for six weeks. With certification, I participate in biweekly skill building online sessions with Teepa Snow and members of the PAC Certified Team as well as other events.
